Try Dives You can have a maximum of five try dives at £5 per dive before deciding whether or not to join the club. This includes all necessary kit and instruction required. The try dive fees are refundable if you decide to join. Diver Lectures Lectures are held at the Queen Adelaide, Swingate, - dates by arrangement with the Training Officer. SAA Membership For new members there is a £41 fee to be paid, if you are the first SAA member of the house hold there will be a additional £15 payment for the SAA Manual all other additional members in the household will only have to pay £41, subsequent annual renewal of SAA membership is £31. Under 18 yr olds Only 18 year olds may be permitted to join the club in their own right. Those under 18 can only be members as part of a family membership. Parents/Guardians must be in attendance at all times to help supervise their children. Please note there are SAA safety restrictions in place for diving by under 18 year olds. These can be viewed under SAA, Training, guidance manual here Medicals The system of medicals has been changed recently to one of self assessment. It is sufficient even for new divers to make a self declaration form. However, those who have not previously been awarded a certificate of fitness and/or answer yes to questions on the medical form must seek the opinion of a medical referee/diving doctor, before undertaking any diving activities including pool training. Details can be viewed here. A medical referee/diving doctor will either endorse a medical declaration or decide if an examination is required before a certificate can be issued. The SAA medical referee is Dr Clamp at Lowdham. Phone 0115 9663633. For subsequent years and during the period of medical certification, (where one was necessary) a self declaration form must be made annually. This can can be downloaded from the SAA site. If a medical is required then this must be arranged through a Diving Doctor. Dr Temple at Kingmill Hospital outpatients will do this for about £20. phone 01623 622515 and ask for his secretary to make an appontment. Medical form can be downloaded here Kit Hire It is possible to loan club kit for pool and open water training, this includes cylinder, regulator, BCD, weight belt & weights, fins, mask and snorkel. Diving wetsuits can be easily hired from Stoney cove for open water use, or from Go dive Derby. The club has some suits or borrow one from a member. Deep Pools Kimberley pool is only 2.0m deep which is quite adequate for most Training We are also able to take trainees to deep water pools on either Monday or Friday nights, to gain further experience before open water diving. This can be arranged at short notice. Open Water Diving In common with many Sub Aqua organisations we use Stoney Cove in Leicestershire for open water training. We can arrange Mid week or Week end sessions to suit you. One of our fully qualified and certified instructors will be available to take you through your instruction and training dives on a one to one basis.
